Performing Arts

Garforth Academy was designated a Specialist Performing Arts College in 2001. This allowed us to develop an exciting range of diverse courses and educational opportunities built around the Performing Arts.

We do not regard ourselves as a 'Performing Arts fame academy', and choose instead to use the additional resources to enrich the arts provision, both at Academy and with the local network of our primary feeder schools and community groups. This has strengthened our position as a Centre of Excellence and will continue to help us cultivate well-behaved and confident students, equipped with the skills necessary to take up this role and responsibility in the community.

Arts Live Launched

Garforth Academy, Brigshaw High School and Education Leeds' music and arts service, ArtForms are all joining forces to provide artistic outlets for local people all year round.

To celebrate the launch, a spectacular music and arts showcase has been organised at Garforth Academy for the local population to see what is on offer.

Live music at Garforth Arts Festival

The free event took place on Wednesday 17 November 2010 from 5.30pm to 9pm and featured a host of new music and arts groups in the area.

Musical attractions included the Garforth Jazz Rock Band, mixed-genre Shiny Band, folk group Slania and adults and children's steel-pan bands Steel Crazy and Panic Attack will be entertaining the crowds.

People attending were also able to take part in free taster sessions in Samba drumming, streetdancing, guitars and steel pans.

A sensational fire show including fire breathing and juggling ended the night with a bang.

Arts Live is a community arts provision with a wide variety of arts groups for young people and adults from anywhere in Leeds to get involved in, including children's theatre, mixed-genre music groups, circus skills and dance.
