General Comments:

History is an interesting but demanding post 16 course and requires a positive, committed approach from all students. The course is very varied and well resourced. Independent research is essential. Germany is taught in Year 12 to help students to make a smooth transition from GCSE to AS level as most will have some knowledge of Nazi Germany from the GCSE course. This course will allow students to consolidate and then extend this knowledge by looking at Germany post Nazism. The Church and State module offers something completely different by looking at the role of religion and the Government in Tudor England. The mix between early modern and modern History courses provides students with broad ranging knowledge. At A2 students follow the course Britain and Ireland 1798-1921, which is an examined unit.  They also follow two coursework elements both based on Elizabeth 1.  The first unit comprises an extended essay based on given sources.  The second is a personal investigation, linked to the main theme - The Reign of Elizabeth 1.
