Dec 2008 - Principal, Paul Edwards, awarded a knighthood in the New Year Honours for services to education.

Ofsted 2007 "An Outstanding School"

2008 HMI Subject Specific Inspection for Music, grading "outstanding"

Consistently the highest performing school within the Authority.

One of the highest performing state schools in the country in terms of GCSE performance.

2008 Results - 95% of students gained 5 or more A* - C passes at GCSE.

- 82% of students gained 5 or more A* - C passes at GCSE including English and Maths.

- 100% of students gained 1 GCSE.

- A Level - 45% A and B grade passes and 99% A - E passes.

- 296 UCAS average points score per student.

In 2007, the College was designated a Pathfinder Trust School.

The College was recently invited to become an Academy Pathfinder Sponsor.

In September 2007, the College became a Foundation School.

The College was designated a "National Support School" and the Headteacher a "National Leader in Education"

In April 2008  the College sucessfully achieved a second Specialism in Applied Learning as a result of being a high performing specialist school.

The College is extensively involved in supporting a Leeds school in special measures and in preparation for becoming an Academy. The college has supported several Leeds schools over the past 7 years.

The College has been recgnised by SSAT for high levels of achievement and high valued added scores.

Our Offsite Vocational Centre is used to support students from other schools.

There have been no exclusions (fixed term or permanent) in over 2 years.

In 2007, the College was one of the first schools in Leeds to achieve the DFES Financial Management Standard in Schools Award.

The College Trust was successful in a "Targeted Capital Fund Bid" releasing £625,000 for IT investment across the Garforth schools.

Completion of a floodlit, all weather playing surface providing unrivalled facilities for sports activities available for student and community use.  £500,000 investment.

£1,000,000 refurbishment and enhancement of the College, including new dining and reception areas. 

National Awards include Artsmark Gold, Investors in People, Specialist School re-designation, Pathfinder Trust School, School Achievement Award, Education Extra Award.

New off-site facilities established for specialist vocational areas including a Hair Salon, a Business Centre, a Beauty Treatment Centre and a Life Skills Centre, all located along Garforth Main Street.  On-site development includes a vocational Construction Centre and two additional IT suites and Science Lab.

Successful "Awards for All" and lottery grant to support Community Education, Garforth Arts Festival and a Summer Activities Programme.

Garforth Arts School Jazz Rock Band successful tour of Germany and, more recently, Ireland.

Regional finalists for Rock Challenge Dance Competition.

Wireless networking introduced to facilitate Sixth Form "Any Time, Any Where Learning" opportunities.

National Music for Youth Competition finalists.

The College has successfully created its own Youth and Community Education programme.
